On April 15, Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES), Zambia held a stakeholders discussion dubbed: “Citizens Voice”, and the discussion centred on the Public Order Act (POA) which is currently under review.

The POA Act remains one of Zambia’s most debated laws, while the process to have it reviewed has stalled.

It was against this background that FES and Southern Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) held the discussion aimed at promoting political accountability and democratic governance around the POA Act and progress made towards reviewing it.

Media Initiative for Women In Zambia (MIWOZ) was present and actively participated at the event that was held at Pamodzi hotel in Lusaka

The panel discussion on POA moderated by Ms Susan Mwewa had Political Science and Governance expert Mr Boniface Cheembe, University of Zambia (UNZA) lecturer, Dr O’Brien, Zambia Police legal officer Ms Noyoo Sitwala and MIWOZ Project Manager who is also Governance expert Mr Gilbert Chisenga.
